You have been gone for a very long deployment and I cannot WAIT to see you! I am in a flurry of excitement and as soon as you come home, all these feelings we left undiscussed came flooding back. I go into “Mom mode” and just compliment you all over, curious and wanting to hear about everything you’ve been up to. Eventually the excitement calms down and we are left with the elephant in the room – everything that happened before you left for deployment. Well, you are surprised to find that your mom has actually been thinking about all that just as much as you have been! We really should have discussed it but… well, here we are. And I think both of us are very, very eager to discuss it now… both verbally and physically. Did you miss your mother as much as I missed you????…..
